Tournament
Rules
1. Please make sure you read all tournament rules before submitting
an entry. Participants must be members
of the USBC Central Maryland Bowling Association. All
bowlers must be locally certified
through CMBA. There are NO EXCEPTIONS.
United States Bowling Congress rules will govern in the absence of any
tournament rule. Tournament management
will make final decisions for this tournament and may refuse or deny any entry.
2. RULE 319e: Each participant should be familiar with the requirements of
USBC rule 319e. Failure to use a
properly adjusted average in accordance with the requirements of USBC rule
319e. shall cause forfeiture of all entry fees and all prize winnings.
3. Multiple participation shall be allowed in Singles, Doubles, and
Teams. Bowlers may reenter in the team event
however, no more than three (3) players may compete on the same team more than
once and only two bowlers on each team can be PBA members. Bowlers may reenter Singles and Doubles under
the following provisions: (a) bowlers must bowl both Singles and Doubles each
time they bowl and (b) only one bowler on a Doubles team can be a PBA
member. The bowler’s first appearance in
any event will count towards the All Events total. Bowlers may only compete in one event each squad. Bowlers may not bowl on more than one team at
a time.
4. Handicap: 90% of 230.
There is no limit on handicap.
5. Averages: Bowlers will use their highest
sanctioned/certified average for the 2005-2006 season, twenty-one (21) game
minimum. If there is no average available from the 2005-2006 season, bowlers
will use their current USBC certified average with a twenty-one (21) game
minimum as of March 1, 2007. All bowlers
using a current average must furnish written verification from their league
secretary when the entry is submitted.
All others will use the average of 225.
USBC rule 319a2 (10 pin rule)
will NOT apply.
6. Average Verification: USBC rule 319a3 states in part that “it shall
be each bowler’s responsibility to verify the accuracy of his/her
average.” Failure to use the correct
average or make a correction prior to the completion of the first game of the
first series shall disqualify any score and prize winnings if the submitted
average is lower than the actual average.
An average sheet signed by the
league secretary must be submitted with the entry form if any bowler is using a
current average or the entry will be returned.
7. Prize Reporting: Any bowler who has qualified
for a prize of $600.00 or more in any event in a tournament within the previous
twelve (12) months must report (actual score) position and amount won for
possible re-rating in accordance with USBC rule 319d. Any bowler who reports a lower average than
required or who fails to report a prize of $600.00 or more, within the previous
twelve (12) months shall forfeit their tournament entry fees and prize
winnings.
8. Substitutes/Tardy Bowlers:
Substitutes must register with tournament management at least thirty
(30) minutes prior to the scheduled squad starting time. Tardy participants
will not be permitted any practice and will be given a zero for each frame
missed.
9. Entry Fee: The entry fee will be $15.00 per bowler per
event. Lineage fee will be $7.50 per
bowler per event. Expense fee is $1.00
per bowler per event. Prize fund will be
$6.50 per bowler per event. Positively
no entry fees will be returned. All
Events is optional. All Events fees are
$5.00.
10. One Prize/Award: Teams may cash each time that they
participate in each event, including Singles Event. This is a handicap tournament, so handicap
awards will be awarded first. Teams are
only eligible to receive either the handicap or scratch award per series, not
both. The highest cash award will
determine which award the team/individual will receive. All Events award
participation is limited to one (1) time per bowler.
11. Prize Fees/Ratio: Prize
fees will be returned 100%. Prize ratio shall be at least 1 for every 10 entries in each
event.
CMBA is
adding $3500.00 to the prize fund.
12. Entry fee must accompany all entry forms. Any checks returned for any reason will be
subjected to a $25.00 fee plus any assessed bank charges. Make checks payable to: Turner’s Dual Lanes
Tournament Account.
13. Entry Deadline: Tournament
entries will close at midnight on March 10, 2007. All entries must be postmarked on or before
March 10, 2007.
14. Singles/Doubles will be held at Turner’s Dual Lanes: Bowlers must enter both Singles and Doubles
events. The Singles event will be bowled
first. Bowlers will change lanes for
Doubles and begin their Doubles competition as soon as lanes become
available. There will be no practice
between Singles and Doubles. Bowlers may
participate in Singles and Doubles more than once. See Tournament Rule #3 for details.
15.
Squad Times: Squad times will be assigned on a first come, first
serve basis.
Team event will be held at
Southside Bowl. Singles/Doubles events
will be held at Turner’s Dual Lanes.

16. All Team captains must check
their teams in at least thirty (30) minutes prior to the scheduled squad
time. The Tournament Director shall
randomly assign lanes. All three games,
per event, shall be bowled on the same pair of lanes. Team captains must check in their team by
bringing all certification cards to the check-in table.
All bowlers must show a valid
USBC/CMBA membership card when checking in.
17. Teams will bowl in the order
that they are listed on the entry form.
Bowling order cannot be changed.
18. Tournament Director will
confirm scheduled squad times to the team captain via a post card.
19. Dress Code: Shirts
must have sleeves, shorts must have a hem.
This will be stated on the confirmation post card.
